Description: Dining here is like a short trip to Tuscany, where you’re surrounded by carved stone, a ring of arched openings in the balcony above, a gurgling fountain, and the golden glow from skylights three stories above. And where else can you fold your napkin, stand up, and say, “Now where do you suppose they keep the Rembrandt?” Frankly, once you’ve tasted the food you won’t mind pushing a brown plastic tray through the cafeteria line. First-timers are often surprised by the fare: a recent menu included olive oil poached salmon and stuffed quail breasts. Salads are works of art and desserts are delectable as well, ranging from Key lime pie to almond cheesecake. Wine is available by the glass or bottle. Lunch is served Tues through Sun (the museum is closed Mon), and the live music that accompanies Fri dinners turns this enchanting room into one of the most popular in town. Admission to the museum is free, and the food is reasonably priced. Now that’s art.
