Description: This combination Swiss-style tea shop, bakery, and candy store (the Overland Park address was added a few years ago) is wildly popular with the hat and gloves crowd, midtown office workers, and even men who do eat quiche. There’s usually a crowd; people will gladly wait in line for the day’s special such as goulash or smoked pork loin. Of course you’ll want dessert. They’re all incredible, especially the Linzer torte. Before you leave the shop—and you can bet someone in line hopes you will—stop by the cases of exquisite handmade chocolates and desserts. The artistry of the truffles and chocolate boxes filled with confections is superb. Out of town fans can order from the Web site. Andre’s is open for lunch Tues through Sat. This Kansas City gem is truly a family affair. Marcel Bollier took over for his father, Andre, and now his own son, Rene, is continuing the tradition at the Overland Park store.
