Description: Climb aboard the Cape Cod Central and feel the thrill as the whistle blows and you begin your fun-filled adventure from Hyannis to Sandwich and back. You’ll pass cranberry bogs, natural woodlands, lush marshes, and more as you make your way to the Cape Cod Canal. The scenic trains operate daily in July and Aug, and less regularly in late May, June, Sept, and Oct. The ride takes about 50 minutes to get to the canal, with a 10-minute stopover to gather passengers, and another 50 minutes back to Hyannis. The train leaves one or two times a day from the Hyannis station at Main and Center Streets and can also be picked up in Sandwich at the Jarves Street station.The railroad also operates the dinner train, a three-hour gourmet excursion. Imagine you’re riding the Orient Express while you enjoy a five-course gourmet meal served on crisp white linen. The three-hour trip departs at 6:30 p.m. (6 p.m. from September through December) from the Hyannis Station. Proper dress and reservations are required.Cape Cod Central also offers a fun and affordable dining experience for the whole family too. While the kids dine on “wacky mac & cheese” and chicken fingers, parents enjoy a more refined menu of their own.
