Description: Four rooms in a Frank Lloyd Wright–style home on a 9-acre hillside property about 20 minutes south of Des Moines. Each room has its own theme, including a retro 1950s room and a room dedicated to Simpson College, which is just a few minutes’ drive from the house. While all rooms have a private bath, the bath for the Harvest Room is across the hallway. Rooms have satellite television and Wi-Fi access. The 900-square-foot Garden Suite has its own patio and provides an extra layer of privacy. The full breakfast includes such unique delights as pesto shirred eggs and chardonnay chive eggs, as well as a full selection of baked goods, fruit, and breakfast meats. Other meals are available, including romantic candlelit dinners, for which you must make arrangements well in advance. DVD players and a selection of movies are available for guests. Numerous walking paths wind around the property, which includes a pond, woods, pasture, and apple orchard, which provides fresh fruit for many yummy items at the dining table. Dogs are allowed for a charge. Rooms are not wheelchair accessible. This is a good base to check out Madison County’s covered bridges, which are just over 20 miles from here.
