Description: Original paintings and bronze sculptures of the American West make up one of the nation’s most important collections of Western art. The artwork, all created after the time of Russell and Remington, is the private collection of Ed P. Trumble, the man who founded the Leanin’ Tree greeting card company in Boulder in 1949. Over a period of more than 50 years, Trumble purchased the work from artists he befriended as he grew the company and licensed their work for the cards. He continues to add to the collection. A large sculpture garden of life-size or larger bronzes graces the museum entrance.Since it opened in 1974, the museum has welcomed more than a million visitors. The gift shop sells all 3,000 Leanin’ Tree cards, gifts, framed canvas reproductions of museum art, and other Leanin’ Tree merchandise. To reach the museum, take the Diagonal Highway (Highway 119) north to 63rd Street, and exit right.
