Description: This newspaper, printed Monday through Friday, is Lake Tahoe’s only daily. It is a member of the Swift Newspaper Group, which also owns all the weekly newspapers scattered around the lake communities. The paper is printed in the mornings, with a circulation of 9,600 Monday through Thursday and 10,500 on Friday. In keeping with company policy, the Daily Tribune carries mostly local and community news. The Daily Tribune serves the Lake Tahoe area in El Dorado, Placer, and Alpine Counties in California and Carson, Douglas, and Washoe Counties in Nevada. On a typical news day, the newspaper runs about five local stories on the front page and devotes one page to regional, one page to national, and one page to international news. The sports section runs Bay Area professional sports news and national sports stories but tries to cover Lake Tahoe high-school and local sports as well. The newspaper is served by the Associated Press. Over the years, the Daily Tribune has become the media powerhouse of Lake Tahoe. Established in 1958, the newspaper aggressively promotes tourism to the area. The Daily Tribune also publishes Lake Tahoe Action (listed in the Weeklies section of this chapter).
