Wyoming gas explosion prompts evacuation of town
Residents and emergency crews are waiting for a fire to burn itself out after an explosion at a natural gas processing plant in a small town in southwestern Wyoming.
No injuries were reported in the explosion Wednesday in Opal, a town of about 95 people. The entire town was evacuated.
Gas from the plant serves a huge number of customers across the West and as far east as Ohio. Officials say the explosion came between the winter heating and summer cooling seasons, when demand is lower.
There was no immediate word on the cause of the blast.
The explosion was reported at about 2 p.m. and the fire burned into the night. It wasn't clear when residents would be allowed to go home.
No structures outside the plant were damaged.

I didn't see any updates, on the internet today.
Did anyone hear what caused the explosion at the natural gas plant in Opal, or is the investigation still on-going?

Opal, WY (AP) A fire continues to burn two days after an explosion at a gas processing plant near the western Wyoming town of Opal (oh-PAL').

Officials have shut off gas to the plant but continued to wait Friday for remaining gas to burn off.

Nobody was hurt in Wednesday's blast and ensuing fire at the Williams Energy facility. The explosion prompted officials to evacuate the 95 or so residents of nearby Opal.

Local officials allowed residents to return home beginning Thursday.

Lincoln County spokesman Stephen Malik said Friday emergency officials continue to watch for any dangers to nearby residents.

The gas plant processed almost a billion cubic feet of gas per day. The gas went by pipeline to the West Coast and as far east as Ohio.

Just received a update from yesterday. Looks like the fire is still burning.
