Hey,

I just got a job offer and they are doing the background check.

The screening company emailed me that they cannot verify a former employer which is a lab and I didn't receive pay from the lab. I was a fellow. So I guess I am not on the payroll.

So I gave them the offer letter, the appointment letter and my visa form.

they emailed me that they will make a note of it.

Would that be enough? I am freaking out because I have resigned my current job.

Submit emails of individuals you worked with there, particularly the Manager or Primary Investigator.

They don't want that. It's the background check not the references check. They have their own database.

Don't worry. You will get the job.Along with fact checking your education and work history, the background check pulls up criminal records. (Oh, and when there’s a urine test involved, you can bet you’re being drug tested—but you probably figured that one out on your own.) However, another thing that most people don’t realize is that your credit history and score might also get assessed.

It's never a good idea to resign from your current job until your background check is completed/cleared. I know a guy who got a government contract position, but he couldn't start work till his background check cleared. He quit his job in anticipation of his interim clearance going through, 6 weeks later his background still didn't clear and his new employer that he wasn't working for yet didn't want to wait any longer, so they moved on to other applicants. Stupid move on his part, and no unemployment to boot because he quit his last job.

Thank you. How do I know my Background check is cleared. I already have been scheduled a medical screen and an orientation and the start date.

I never understood this. Why doesn't the employer just call the check company and ask them what the problem is? It could be the provider they used. My current company whatever provider they use to verify is obviously more competent than my last employer. How is it quicker to move onto the next applicant when you're just gonna have to start the BG check process all over again

The stupidity of Government never ceases to amaze me
