My very first job out of high school..........union job, good pay and benefits, privately owned by an older strict boss................he handed each of us a Christmas card, shook our hand, and had cash inside that was about 5x the hourly wage.
One foreman complained that he felt insulted because he didn't receive more cash than us workers.
Strict boss fired him and discontinued the practice.
He stated that from now on our paid holiday was our Christmas gift.
No christmas bonus working for a school district
Do any of you guys get a christmas bonus?
Yeah, where I work I have gotten a x-mas bonus( though they don't really consider it an x-mas bonus, they say they are just giving out a part of our total bonus early) every year except for one in 2009 when the economy was still recovering from recession.
I believe a boss could pay his workers $1 an hour less, then return that $1 an hour in a Christmas card ( $2,200) and loyal employees would be happier.
The last significant Christmas bonus I received was sixteen years ago. I had just started working for a major insurance company in late November of that year. Within days, they went through a merger--and when I received my first paycheck, I also received an $1,800 bonus, which was directly related to the merger.
Needless to say, that made for a very nice Christmas!
