I'm not sure what to do. I just started a new job 4 weeks ago. The second week I got pretty sick and was sent home from the office. I was at home sick for 3 days. Then last week after buying a new car, I had to leave early to do to the DMV for a minor issue with my license that I wasn't aware of.
I'm at work now and my husband calls me to let me know he rushed out 11 year dog to ER for possible congestive heart failure. I'm a wreck. Our dog is our baby and the thought of being at work if he dies.. I can't deal with it.
I know I can't ask to leave again. Im not sure what to do.
OP, has your supervisor raised any concerns regarding your absences? If not, that doesn't mean they are not a concern, it could just mean that your employer may terminate you without warning. With only being there for four weeks it would be risky to take off of work for this.
Your dog is in the best possible place right now, but I know it's tough. Are you able to leave for lunch or do you get breaks? In a worst case scenario, could your husband bring your dog so you could at least go out to the car and visit/say goodbye?
Sorry. I know how you feel. As the others have mentioned, the best possible people are on it and there is nothing you can do. Finish your work day and brace for the worst, but hope for the best.
I've been very fortunate that most of my employers understood how strongly connected I felt to my pets. And they were very understanding when I had to leave for emergencies with them. However, with your current situation I think you have to stick it out. Sometimes life sucks and you need a job...no matter what your dog knows you love him.

Sadly I don't think many employers have sympathies in regard to pets. If the employer sees how bad you are emotionally hopefully they will understand and be sympathetic.
Where I work, that would be an acceptable reason to leave. However, not all work places are like that. If your work has been outstanding, you might be able to get away with it. Especially if you can make these hours up somehow, by staying late or working a weekend (without being asked). But if you don't feel that confident, and the job is really necessary, then you might not be able to go.
