I got a full time job offer which I will begin soon. However, the location of the job has a high standard of living so I'm going to have to get another job - a part time one. I just graduated from college so I'm incredibly lucky to even have the full time job offer.
But I'm wondering if I'm allowed to have two jobs (one full time and one part time) at once? Would I have to tell both employers that I have two jobs? Is it seen as a negative thing for the employer if I have two jobs?
Congrats on the job offer. Is the job in your career field? You'll want to fully commit your time to excelling in the new position in order to advance in your career.
If I were you I wouldn't live above my means because of the location of the job. I would commute to work in order to afford a comfortable lifestyle with just one full-time job incase you either don't find a part-time job or lose it due to the stress of having two jobs.
If you were to secure an additional part-time job I would inform the part-time employer of your primary job for scheduling purposes.
It's your life. You can have all the jobs you want. Some companies have rules about outside employment. However, if the company doesn't have those rules, then you don't have to notify them of anything. It's your personal business how many jobs you have.
However, you really need to be able to live on one salary if possible. Can you find a place that fits the salary of the one job?

As long as they are not conflicting of interest and legal then yes you can have two jobs at once. I have 3 lol It's none of your employer's business what you do on the side if you have a p/t job (again, as long as it's not conflicting with your f/t job such as stealing clients away, moonlighting on the side, etc.)
As others have said, as long as there isn't a conflict of interest or a prohibition on having two jobs from either job then you can have two. I've done it... Full time audit position plus a part time job at a housewares store. It was rough, but I managed to do it for a little over a year.
I worked 3 days a week 12-14 hours shift Fri, Sat, and Sunday as my full time. Then worked a contract with a previous employer of mine for 8 hours two days a week. My "weekend" was essentially a Monday and Tuesday. My full time employer didn't know. My part time contract employer did have an understanding that if called into shift on an emergency, I would need to reschedule my hours. No explicit prohibition and no conflict of interest. You can setup a LLC entity for your contract side (a separate topic)... actually many (including I) would suggest it.
I was the only person responsible for a system when I left my last company, so I left them in a bit of a bind while they tried to find someone new.
I wound up working for them at night as a consultant in addition to my day job at my new company. I even wound up interviewing my replacement(a weird situation). Ultimately it worked out fine though and I was able to put away a few extra grand for a down payment.
Not something I'd want to do on an on going basis because it does get exhausting at time, but if it's for a little extra income on the side, there's no harm.
Your comment about how you have to do it because there's a high standard of living there is disturbing though. You don't want to live somewhere that you can't afford to live on one job.
