Most large companies and government entities also have acceptable use policies where generally playing around on the office computer (going onto forums and dating sites during working hours, etc.) is concerned (as of course they should). And out of those, many have monitoring software installed. The number of people who don't understand this is quite astonishing in this day and age - and they're the first to rise up in righteous indignation when details of their time-wasting and money-wasting activities are brought to their attention. Do a google - some of the stories are hilarious!

PS: And all of this is nothing new - it's been going on for years and the monitoring technology becomes more sophisticated by the day.

People wonder about, and discuss with others, all kinds of observations they make. It's called having conversations about things or being curious.

Why do people ask questions about "why others dress like slobs," or "what you you make of a co-worker who does "X," or other kinds of does-it-really-matter-if-it's-not-affecting-someone-else kind of questions.
Well said selhars and I agree with this as well and it seems unwise and not very saavy to be accessing ones personal email correspondence via a work email address and/or computer. The workplace environment that we currently find ourselves in is not especially a warm and fuzzy one therefore I myself take precautions to keep my personal business separate from my professional business.

Just my thoughts on the matter.
