Anybody with a brain knows that 9.1% is such a joke. Even 16% seems low. I would be interested to see what percentage of people willing to work full time are working full time. That would give us a much better gauge of how bad the economy really is.

Yeah I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if it is a lot higher than 16%.

The unemployment rate will never reach 7% again. This country is toast. People who can afford to leave are already doing it and a lot of people are considering it. Even if the govt. cuts taxes and regulations, the deterioration of morals and demise of the family structure are so bad that it will never be corrected, at least in my lifetime. The younger generation has been so spoiled, most of them don't understand hard work, sacrifice or what it even means to love someone. (Its all about me!!!) If Obama is re-elected. The trickle leaving the coutry will turn into a stream.

Does anyone have the raw number that the (latest) percentage is supposed to represent?

If I had an easy out, I think I'd be on the boat out... Problem is, we're the best house in the worst neighborhood... Where are you going to go that's any better?

And where are all these people going?

This is kind of the nub of the problem- it doesn't matter who is president. Bush, Obama... it's all the same. They do the same things and serve the same masters. I can't believe so many people are still snowed by these "two" parties.

Where to go depends on what you want. There are other countries that Americans move to and enjoy. Mexico used to have large expatriate communities, but they may have gotten small considering what's going on south of the border. New Zealand, Austrailia, Singapore Thailand, France, Chile, Argentina, Panama and other countries offer attractive alternatives to many Americans.

Excellent post! The true president is the top 1%.

Big question would be, what kind of money can you make in these countries? I doubt I could earn the money I do in America elsewhere, working for someone else anyways, with the exception of maybe Australia. If mining takes a dive in Australia, they are going to be in the same mess we are anyways.
