I'm moving to Western NC later this year. I'm considering areas immediately east and south of Asheville. I'm a bit set on Hendersonville and will be visiting there in February. Can anyone enlighten me on the area? I grew up on the eastern end of NC, New Bern, but want to settle in the western end of the state...love the mountains.

I really like Asheville. I have never been to Hendersonville but had a college roommate from there, he was really nice and spoke highly of it.

Carlton, here's the website for the Hendersonville Times-News for up to date info and what's going on in the area, higher taxes, very few jobs, and over development. but beautiful area.

Default Moving to Western NC

Hendersonville is my hometown. It has a great small town atmosphere. The downtown area is really nice: shops, restaurants, pedestrian friendly. There are a lot of historic sites: Carl Sandburg's Home, Woodfield Inn, and Bonclarken in Flat Rock. The Flat Rock Playhouse (state playhouse of NC) is there.

My brother is a realtor there.
