My wife and I are considering moving from Long Island to Jupiter Farms. We have a girl 11 and a boy 9. Both children play on travel baseball/softball and like the idea of the extended season in Florida. Our school district is cutting programs like crazy and it seems like there is no end in sight. We currently pay close to $20k in taxes and have no middle school sports program. After researching schools Jupiter appears to have some of the best schools in Florida. Can anyone with firsthand knowledge tell me about the education and sports in the schools? How is it to live in the Farms as far as children playing with each other? We are animal lovers(have deer in the back yard, foxes, etc) love the idea of the farms. We have been to Florida a lot, my wife's parents live in Pompano Beach and her brother lives in Sanibel, so we are aware of the heat, bugs hurricanes etc. mostly worried about moving the children away from their friends. Any info that anyone could give us to help us make a decision would be greatly appreciated.

Farms is really a street by street deal. Some areas are awesome, some have so many illegals you would think you got transplanted to a 3rd world nation overnight! Farms also has two school districts, east of JF rd is one and the rest of the farms attends another. Similar arguments for paved/unpaved roads etc.

Well, start with doing your school district research and pick a neighborhood based on that. Sorry, but I wouldn't go West of 95 unless you actually need a "farm".

We recently spent time looking for RE in Jupiter, we found our perfect home in The Jupiter Country Club. We have a 10 year old son that loves sports as well. JCC is west of 95 but insulated and very nice! Jupiter is rather small in scope so even though your west of 95 it only takes minutes to get anywhere, the freeway is very close. We are moving from Chicago so we will miss city living but having a nice big home is worth it to us. I think it all depends on your price range, in our experience buying a new 4k sq foot home in Jupiter is a 50% discount from what we can get downtown Chicago. Good luck w your move.
