It's situated between Best Buy and Miner's. Its address is: 2401 S. 1st St; Yakima, WA. It was there the last time I rolled through there, which was over a year ago. I don't know if it's still there or not.

OK. Here is my take as someone who has only been in Central WA for 6 months and many places I have not eaten at. I have two favorites and an ice cream thought

1) The TAV in Ellensburg is a close second for best hamburgers I have ever tasted. Tied for number one is Fuddruckers and Portillos (in Chicago).

2) The best mexican food I have ever had in my life (except possibly the person selling burritoes in front of a liquor store in Denver) is Antojitos in Yakima. It is AMAZING. It puts places in Oregon like Muchas Gracias to shame and I never had anything on the West side that even came close.

3) Winegars has the best ice cream I have had in my life. They have two locations in EBURG and you can buy the ice cream in local stores in Eburg. The only negative is the Kevinlicious and Gary Dough are unfortunate names but its the kind of sweet creamy goodness that you just know is unhealthy and to die for or from.

Anybody remember Mabel's in Ellensburg? It was on the old highway going out of town to the west (now called University way? ...back then Central was just a college, CWSC, so the street wasn't called University Way). It was a greasy-spoon, hole-in-the-wall type of joint but was just the place to escape for a greasy snack after studying. The Mabel Burger was the one I remember. From what I recall, it was a open-faced burger piled with hash browns and smothered in gravy. Yeah, pretty unhealthy but back then, there was not too much emphasis on eating healthy the way it is now.

You didn't have a hot dog or at least chili dog at Portillo's?

Agreed, Winegar's has excellent ice cream, Amerideaf, you might check them out, they are in E-burg though.

Another non-chain restaurant I like in E-burg is the Palace Cafe, on the main drag downtown.

Mexican:
Antojitos Mexicanos has great authentic Mexican, less Tex-Mex.
Mercedes on Tieton has very good burritos
Tammy's on N 1st also has very good authentic Mexican (think home-made tortillas)

Other:
Sweet Beez in Selah has an excellent breakfast.
Joy Garden (Korean) is great for teriyaki and Korean food. They try to use a lot of locally sourced ingredients.
Taj Mahal on Nob Hill has surprisingly good Indian food, although it's a little expensive compared to what you get in Seattle or Portland.

Memo's looks sketchy, but they got some pretty good tacos, burritos, and other goods.
