I'm moving to 9th and M NW next week, and am researching lap pools in the area. Anyone have experience with the YWCA pool a few blocks south? Is it hard to find a free lane? Any other recommendations for year-round pools in the area? Thanks....

My experience as a lap swimmer in the DC area is that it can be very hard to find a free lane during the peak hours (pre-work, lunchtime, and after work). I'm not familiar with the pool you mention, but the pool at the downtown YMCA on Rhode Island Ave is visible from the sidewalk, so you can see for yourself how crowded it is at any given time.
You might consider contacting a local Master's swim club, or posting a query on the USMS Discussion Forums at USMS Discussion Forums - Powered by vBulletin. Masters team members usually have a detailed knowledge of local lap swimming spots.
Good luck!

fsmla3 I just moved to 9 and M as well. If you found a lap pool please inform me. I was told about a public pool on 18th and U. There has to be something closer.
