PG County sucks for numerous reasons

1. You pay a lot of taxes. The better places are in municipalities, and of course your bill gets doubled if you choose to live in one of them.
2. You don't get much return on those taxes. Poor maintenance of roads is obvious.
3. Lots of old construction.
4. Locations for buying things, getting quality of life things done(medical, etc), etc are all scattershot and chaotic
5. Government is wasteful and corrupt
6. Populace is duplicitous and destructive. I've experience theft, break-ins. Then there are those who cause hell in "civil court".

All of that was a talking point 2-3 decades ago. None of that is relevant in 2021.

Still relevant even as 5 years ago. When I started working for the Hyattsville Dominos, Kenilworth Avenue south of 410 was a hot garbage road to drive on. Adelphi Road is still an aged bumpathon for long stretches. Roads inside municipalities are normally paved more frequently, but they should be given the rates they charge.

The municipality system means double taxation for living in them, and they are often, but not always nicer than just non-municipal PG. Cheverly "inside the forest" is a nice place for well to-doers. University Park is also the same. Hyattsville proper is also alright. Mount Rainier looks trashy and old even with municipal taxes. Bladensburg has a decent main road but the inside looks stale.

Not much has changed.

Kenilworth sound of 410 is a VERY industrial area, with lots of heavy equipment movement to and from facilities that house tractor trailers, heavy equipment like cement mixers, dump truckers, delivery trucks, mechanic shops and utility trucks, so it is no wonder that the roads are so bad there. Bad roads are common industrial areas with heavy concentrations of warehouses, heavy equipment, construction storage, etc.

The asphalt was damaged mainly from potholes and the right lane against the curb being downright nasty.

They put down new pavement soon after 2016.

They also have milked Adelphi for an eternity. The portion between Metzerott and Riggs hasn't changed since I went to UMD, if not earlier.
