Honestly, I think I'm just going to shoot for a special education job where ever I can find it (reasonably speaking of course) to get my foot in the door, then transition towards teaching English again. I'm licensed for moderate to severe disabilities and will likely go ahead and add mild to moderate onto my license before I start looking. I just need to spend a month or two over the summer brushing back up on some of the legalities, etc. As far as the practice, that's not too much of an issue since I currently co-teach resource/ inclusion classes and I'm familiar with writing IEP's etc. It's mostly just the test that I have to study for.

Anywho, thanks for the advice. I'm going to start putting everything in order once I get my NC license squared away with these wacky expiration dates and the way the state is putting things on hold. Once that opens back up, I guess it'll be back to the races.

You will have to che k with OSPI about SPED endorsement. I am old enough to have been grandfathered into just about everything. However, I don’t think you need an endorsement for each “level” of SPED you teach. Washington does not typically separate SPED classes by severity of disability in those, terms.

I have my ESA (Educational Staff Associate) which is the certificate for nurses, OTs, PTs, Psychs, and SLPs

Is there a place where I can look up the certification areas for Washington? I've tried looking and can't really find a list.

It is all right here. No other place to look. Start with the certification tab.
