I too am flummoxed. Maybe perhaps MimzyMusic will return at some point and explain her question in more detail so that a response can be offered. Maybe only the Shadow knows ... !!
I only wish I had the money to live there, its a fantasy of mine.
I think Lindsey answered the question perfectly......for the USVI are a great place to visit...but who the hell can afford it other than the rich or the poor...
You will not find any modesty here.
However, you will find a lot of ignorance and rudeness on these islands.
Do not be misled by the (Virgin Islands) name, it means nothing.
You were looking for perfection when you got there?
I'm a proud native Virgin Islander who spent the past 20 years in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area where you are. I saw in another thread you said you moved there and found your paradise, or something to that effect. I loved the place but like you stated about my islands, I encountered quite a bit of ignorance and rudeness there myself. Trust me when I tell you because I worked for AT&T on the road and visited over 700 homes in 3 years all over the South Florida area. I met 'em all INCLUDING those making ignorant statements.
You have the rude and ignorant everywhere. Going home and thinking we're all a bunch of smiling black people without problems and issues deriving from something called "life" would set you up for a nice surprise. I can say for a fact, however, ignorance and rudeness are NOT what most of us are all about. Sorry if you encountered it.
Its easy for a 48er to misinterpret island culture for "ignorance and rudeness"
Just like when I go back to the states and start honking my horn people want to get out and fight.
