Growing up in the 90's, I loved the cartoons--especially the ones that were on Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel. I wish they'd have a channel dedicated just for 90's shows. I'd gladly get cable back if only for those shows.
My Favorites:
Doug (When it first came out. With the old animation)
Ren and Stimpy
Ahhh! Real Monsters
Carebears
My Little Pony
Are You Afraid of the Dark
The Fairy Tale cartoons that aired at 12p on NBC
Wild and Crazy Kids
Ghost Writer (LOVED)
Garfield
Beakmans World
Sailor Moon (Never got to finish the series!)
Clarissa Explains it All
Recess
Angela Anaconda
Jem
Mission Hill
Cartoons in the 1990's marked a turning point I believe where the quality of the writing and the voice acting began to improve. Batman: The Animated Series exemplified this because the writing was sophisticated and you could tell the producers valued the intelligence of the audience. Compare that to many cartoons of the 1960s and 70s that didn't seem to think much of its audience's intelligence. Remember how the narrator of the Superfriends had to explain every plot point? LOL.
Some of my favorites were
Batman: TAS
Superman: The Animated Series
Tiny Toons
Men in Black
Ren and Stimpy
Beavis and Butthead
Daria
Recess Duck Tales (1980s too) Darkwing Duck Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers (1980's too) The Real Ghostbusters (1980's too)
Adult Cartoons:
King of the Hill The Simpsons
Family Guy
Futurama
Space Ghost Coast to Coast
The Brak Show
(note that Batman, MIB, and Superman could also be considered adult shows)
I thought Jem was the 80s...I watched it when I was little, and I still have two of the dolls. I actually watched some of the episodes a few weeks ago because Netflix just made them available on their live stream catalogue...GI Joe, too!! AAAHH!!! Real Monsters was on there, too. I watched 'em all.
My era for cartoons was the 80's. I'm so glad I was a kid back then, what do kids watch nowadays.
My favorite 80's- Battle of the Planets, Voltron, Transformers, GI Joe, Thundercats, He-man, Bionic Six, Ghostbusters, Spiderman and his amazing friends, Wow, too many to list. LoL

Maybe you're right... I'm not sure. I just turned 7 in 1990, maybe I caught reruns? Who knows lol
