As I understand it, there is no fire protection service provided by the government for those areas not within the Tucson city limits. {correct me if I'm wrong} So....where does the city limits end going north. North of River Rd? North Of Sunrise?
I would assume most people in the foothills contract with the private rural fire dept. Can anyone give me an estimate on annual cost for this service for a 3000 sq ft home? I know you can email them with a specific address and they will give you a quote but I'm just trying to get a rough idea of the cost for a foothills house.

Clueless about the Fire Protection Services, Jareb . . .

However, in most cases the Tucson City Limits end at the Rillito, not necessarily River Road but close.

I don't pretend to know but we're buying in Marana (Sunflower) and although it has a Tucson zip code, seems the streets and such are covered by Marana. However, I know fire protection is covered in the property taxes (or so I've been told anyway) so I suspect it was a matter of various areas petitioning the city to include them and to provide a tax base to do so.

Yeah Tom.....I'm a little vague on the whole concept of private fire departments also. I've never lived anywhere that didnt have fire service as part of the county/city property tax structure. I'm hearing that the unincorporated parts of Pima County use RuralMetro fire protection which is a private company and there is a yearly "membership" fee based on either value or sq. ft. of the residence. I'm sure someone on this forum will chime in on this.
Thanks

Rural Metro Fire covers The Foothills area, for a 2800 sf home the annual cost is just under 650.00 year. There is also a 35.00 registration fee when you begin service.
