Hello, I'm looking for apartments in Tucson and noticed some that indicate they have evaporative cooler plus window AC. Would this be ok for the monsoon months? I read that the monsoon months is when the evaporative cooler does not seem to do a good job. Just wondering if using a window AC will help? Not sure if I should skip these types of apartments or at least check them out.

Thanks!

If it is a good unit and located in the bedroom. Also, you must consider the sq. ft. that the a/c needs to cool.

I used the a/c only about 15 days out of the year when the humidity was very high and found it quite comfortable. One those days, after work, I would pretty much stay in the bedroom to be comfortable.

My person belief is that using the swamp cooler is generally better as it provides humidity in the air, often cheaper, and most importantly it allows your body to adapt much more to the heat of the desert.
