I just want to know, who or what is going to be blamed for all of the health problems that will continue to occur after all of the smokers quit smoking? There are so many toxins and poisons we breath in or absorb into our skin daily that can cause much ofthe same health problems that are being blamed on cigarette smoke. Is it really going to make that big of a difference to everyone's health if the world stopped smoking?

Granted, I did try to quit in 2005 when I'd had a sinus surgery.... didn't happen
Trouble is, smokers don't realize just how far the smoke can carry - or how it can seep through cracks. One day, I was indoors and all the way on the other side of the room there was a window open only a crack. I suddenly smelled cigarette smoke. I got up and looked out the window - someone was smoking not only outside but from across the street. The smoke had made it's way across the street (smoke doesn't just dissipate because you're outside), through the small crack in the window and across the room.
All I can say to that is, deal with it. I'm highly allergic to perfume, and that can carry all the way across a room... so you know what I do? I MOVE! It's not their problem I'm allergic, and you can't expect the entire world to be pristine and perfect for you. Besides, the other toxins humans emit in the environment will hurt you much more quickly than my cigarette. And that was my point about the SUV and cheeseburgers - not anything to do with you personally, just pointing out that cigarettes are the least of our worries.
So, do that which you choose to enjoy your life to the fullest and if others aren't fond of it, they can change the channels they are viewing
Amen! That's pretty much what I've been thinking, and how I try to live my life... there will ALWAYS be someone or something to complain about, so just learn to deal or live in a cave. Seriously, what other options do you have? I could list a million things that annoy me or make me sick, but it's not worth wasting my time on that - just worry about yourselves, and do what you can to avoid the irritants.

Nope, sorry, perfume does not cause cancer. Cigarettes are the least of our worries? Not when you've lost two loved ones to lung cancer and almost a third.
Geez, you try to put the guns down for a minute and just communicate with someone and you still get a brick wall and hostility.

So you've never complained about anything in your whole life? That's strange because you know what you're doing right now? Complaining! You're complaining about our complaining. So if we're pathetic for complaining about smoking... what does that make you for complaining about our complaining? Maybe you should lead by example and stop complaining as well? Maybe you should just "deal with" our complaints, "worry about yourself" and "avoid the irritants".
I applaud all the businesses, cities, towns, states, and the like who take a stand against the effects of second hand cigarette smoke. I am a non-smoker and very allergic. I live in a state where everywhere is acceptable to smoke, I actually have to tell almost every contractor or laborer who comes to my property to keep their cigs in the car and not to put their butts on my ground. The laws and policies of other places are there because MOST smokers have no awareness of how their vice makes using a rental car, hotel room, restaurant, bar, and many more places very uncomfortable if not just unbareable to those of us who do not smoke. Ever heard of offgasing(sp)? MOST people who smoke do not realize how much they smell even when they are NOT smoking. I think smoking should be allowed in YOUR home of ownership, your car of ownership, your property. Outside of these places there could be specific locations, like casino's that have both a bar and restaurant, then the smokers can eat, be entertained, and have their vice too. To each their own vice I believe, but keep yours out of mine is what I believe the MOST

Sorry you lost loved ones to cancer but if indeed they died from smoking--that was their choice to smoke-period! Seems like you're holding a grudge about that and maybe you should learn how to deal with that.

I've seen perfume cause an asthma attack which can be serious and life threatening...
Of course we can not smoke in my office but I can't count the amount of times I had to go outside because some nit wit had on enough perfume to choke a cow and I could feel my throat closing
