You won't be able to leave the hotel room. What fun is that?

So do I. Certainly no way as busy as it used to be.

Exactly, even if I had insurance that paid for the hotel rooms, why would anyone want to be confined to a hotel room for weeks?

Our last trip abroad was Spain, Gibraltar and Portugal. We spent several weeks bouncing around off of the beaten path.

We loved Barcelona and the public transportation was fantastic. Unfortunately we did not know enough to book tickets to visit the cathedral as they recommend at least two weeks out.

My family’s health and safety is first and foremost but damn I miss traveling!

I wonder if they assign you to specific "quarantine hotels" or if one can choose the hotel to be quarantined in?

While not a first choice to spend one's time I could see choosing a really nice 4 star property with great in-room entertainment, 24 hr room service & possibly a view as a decent consolation option. Have Uber deliver a bottle of wine or gin now & then. This is what credit cards are for.

A number of years ago I got very ill 2 days in to a 2 week overseas vacation & was told to stay in bed for 10 days. I was in a nice, clean but moderate budget hotel & the only English language channel on the tv showed Law & Order 24/7, almost nothing else. Not a L&O fan, & on the 11th day I checked out & went to a 4 star property, high floor, king room with a view of the ocean & the (2 remaining) sunsets. They had a great pool, bar, HBO & VOD & room service & helped to salvage some joy.

This is my biggest fear that I fail a COVID-19 test before I am to fly back to the US. We generally only spend a day in the city we fly out of so that would be a bit of a change but we could adjust to that. We could afford to have to quarantine if we failed a test but I would rather not afford it. We are vaccinated but you never know and again that would be something I would not want to experience but life throws you loops sometimes.
