I'll second the duck tours! I've done them in Boston, Philly, and DC. They're a lot of fun, the "captains" are very knowledgeable as well as funny, and you do get to see some of the major landmarks. Nice for a first visit to a city. Plus, it's just weird "driving" into a river!

I forgot about the duck tours ... I saw them in one city I visited but never got the chance to do the tour. Will make an effort to do it next time
