I am very impressed with some of the suggestions. Some of these suggestions sound great!
Personally, I have been to Ireland, the Highlands of Scotland, New Zealand, the Grand Canyon and the coast of Croatia and find it hard to argue with any of these choices. Of these choices I would probably favor Ireland (the Ring of Kerry region or the Boyne river area) or New Zealand the most.
However, I would also nominate the south west part of Turkey around Ephasus.
Libyan and Sahara Deserts, Morocco, Utah, you have never seen stars unless you spent a night sleeping in the Sahara in the open with just a sleeping bag.
Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Northern Italy, BC, US Rocky’s, for mountain views.
Northern and Southern Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam some of the nicest people in the world.
Glacier, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Zion, Arches, Grand Teton, Badlands, Sequoia, Redwood, Olympic and Smoky Mountains National Parks.
San Francisco, Boston, New York City, London, Bangkok and Berlin great city’s.
Others here have mentioned New Zealand. I agree that it is the most beautiful country that I have visited. The whole country is fantastic. IMO, though the most lovely section of New Zealand is the very northern part which is known as the Bay of Islands. There is much to be said for the south island too, though.
I never had the good fortune to make it to the Bay of Islands, but the South Island of New Zealand is simply breathtaking. I was there for two weeks on a television shoot once. It is physically impossible to take a bad shot there. Even their garbage dumpsters are scenic.
Amchitka Island, in the Aleutian islands of Alaska. The bald and golden eagles are everywhere, and the sheer remoteness is just overwhelming. I was fascinated by the variety and beauty of the tundra flora. Plus the marine vessel trip to get there and back from Adak yielded volcanic lava balls rolling down craggy mountainsides; dolphins, whales and sea otters; and amazing waterfalls. I'd go back in a heartbeat!
I found the Pacific Coast Highway, especially around Monterey and Carmel, to be breathtaking.
I also think the Blue Ridge Mountains are beautiful.
