I will be relocating to Toledo from Philadelphia this summer. I am looking for reccommendations for a 1 bedroom apartment in a safe neighborhood. I will be a graduate student, and not really looking for a "college" type environment. I am 4 years post undergrad, and prefer to have a quiet setting. I don't mind traveling 15-30 minutes (in traffic, not before traffic) to get to school or work (toledo museum) everyday, if I have to. Could someone please make a few recommendations? Thanks for all of your help! I'm at a complete loss here, as I know not a soul in the area. Thanks.

Default Heyrenee

Sorry if I already posted this...can't remember. I lived in the Riviera apartments on Shoreland Ave. and there are other apartments on that street, along the river, alongside half-million & more dolllar homes, close to a park & very safe neighborhood. It's in Toledo but also a township, the rent was $475/mo. for a 1-bedroom. It's close the university, 10-15 min. down
I-75 depending on traffic & how fast you drive

heyrenee,
I'm actually moving to Toledo as a new hire. I would encourage you checking out Park Lane Luxury Apts. It's right on the border of Uptown and the Old West End. (I found the burbs nice, but too much like home.) It's also right across the street from the Art Museum and Glass Pavilion. I've checked into the complex myself (and just sent in my application) since it's not a college apt complex (rent is out of range) most of the people I saw were in the late 20's and 30's. The building is secure you need an RFID to get in and the parking lot is gated. While you may have to drive for a Kroger or Giant Eagle I've been told there are some nicer restaurants and pubs within walking distance. I encourage you to check it out. Rent is reasonable with everything included.

If you want a nice apt,with a nice pool,one bedroom apt,in a nice neighborhood.

I got the best place for the best value for you...

one bedroom apt for $370,with swimmingpool, large closet, nice size living room,
and its right on Alexis Rd between jackman and douglas.
So minutes away from the mall, meijers, kroger and from the express way...
U also have within 5 minutes from here,Tireman,Papa Johns Pizza,Marco's Pizza, Jeds Bar,Super Fitness GYM, Family Video,Movie Gallery,Target,K Mart, 3 gas stations only half a mile away. U have applebee's,bob evans...I mean everything is within minutes....

I mean I love this area and this apt,and no one actually can match this place,as far area goes, whats close by,even walking distance, price value....

and its a very safe neighborhood... and the apt is safe as well.
Lets put it this way,I am not the only having a 26 grand car sitting at the apt parking lot.Just to give you an idea...

The avarge people living here are usually between their mid 20's and up to 50's

And 2 bedroom apt would cost $450. Wsher and Dryer is provided from the apt and their office floor.

And the Office is by the way on site, which means u do not have to sent your rent in,and can give to them per person....

I looked at almost every apt before I decided for this one,and was lucky I found this one...and I am very very picky about location, safety and price value as well and just like you, I am also not originally from here...

If you want more info,
just sent me private message,or leave me your e mail.

I could give you more details..if you are interested

hi everyone, thanks for the ideas. I'll surely be checking all of your recommendations out. I've never visited Toledo so once I finally make it out to check things out, i'll make the decision between the city or the burbs. I've heard good things about Maumee, Slyvania, Perrysberg, and Rossford. Are those places really far from the city?? I was looking at the Hamlet at Maumee - from pictures looks like a nice place. Thanks again for all of your help.

GTM4188 - congrats on the new job!! good luck with it.

Well if you are willing to pay more $$$ for a basic apt, then I'd go with Sylvania....
but remember. Sylvania is not Toledo, Rossford is not Toledo and Maumee is not Toledo...

Maumee and Sylvania are very nice areas, but alot more expensive...and yes it is far from the city...not too far,but Its a drive though.

Hello, Welcome to Toledo..i have lived in Perrysburg, Toledo and Maumee. All apartments i might add...the best apartment complex was Heathbriar apartments...nice one bedrooms the rent is a great price and we lived there for 4 yrs..nice area as well. We have now relocated to NY do to my husbands job...he also went to the University of Toledo...the travel time is great about 10 to 15 mins depending on traffic...Perrysburg is great as well and so is Maumee..but anyway...Maumee is not far as well my husband was still going to UT there and his travel time was the same as in the apt. in Toledo...well good luck on your apartment hunting...i know the feeling of comming in cold to a city...we did in Upstate NY...it was fun...lol...u may also try some of the real estate offices they dont charge a fee and they will recommend a nice place for u. This is what we did in NY...if they try to charge u a fee its aganist the law.
Sincerely

relocatedfrommaumee --
great advice. 10-15 minutes isn't a bad commute at all. since you've lived in so many different areas, please tell me - would you reccommend toledo? i'm not looking for a college atmosphere, but I will be also doing an internship at the museum along with school? just wondering, thanks.

I'd check out Jamestown Apt. It's in a neighborhood around the Old Orchard Area. Very safe, lots of young people, beautiful places, you are in the heart of WEst Toledo which is close to EVERYTHING, and in a pinch...you could walk straight up Cheltenham Rd to the University!
