I would consider anything off of veterans parkway to be convenient for you. Town and Country, Citrus Park, Greater Northdale, even as far north as Lutz if you want a lot of bang for your buck.

Lutz will be a 20 minute ride to and from work, but at least it wont be bumper to bumper. I dont mind driving if I am moving or negotiating side streets because traffic down the main stretch is so bad.

I lived in Valrico and commuted to MacDill AFB. I now live in Annapolis, MD and commute to Northern Virginia via the Belt Way.

No contest. DC is much worse!

He's right, westchase is probably a good option. Also there are other neighborhoods south of westchase off of sheldon as you head north from the rocky pont area. There are canals that lead to the bay from there, I know some folks that used to live on one. It seemed like a pretty cool place. That other guy was right about the crosstown, but you would definitely want to switch from the crosstown to 275 at downtown and take 275 till it dumps out on 60, which would take you right to rocky point. Not a commute I'd want to make every day, but doable.

South tampa probably also not a bad option if you're commuting to rocky point. I used to live in an apartment at the intersection of cleveland and lois which was nice, the drive from there would be really easy. Also, there are apartments that are at rocky point.

They are starting construction on the Crosstown/I-4 connector, which will make the switch to 275 a lot easier. This is something we've needed for a long time.

Thanks for the info. We're looking to rent a home, an apartment witj a family of 5 and 2 small dogs just won't do. Beginning to look into lq d o lakes sinve iys right on Vetefan's as people suggested. I would ratjer be driving a little while on open road than sit in traffic for the same amount of time. Looks like the commite to rocky point from land o lakes would be qbout 30 - 40 minutes. Does that seem accurate? Really begining to wish they would just let me work from home like they used to.

I'm not surprised, given our limited public transportation options. Tampa can learn a lot from Charlotte.

Glad to be back in Tampa. Spent the week in DC. Sure the museums and monuments were great to see - but thrilled to be away from the constant sirens, congestion (car and people), noise, expensive prices, and homeless people (I know we have more than our share). How DC isn't the number one area for worst commute is beyond me. It must take workers 1 1/2 hrs to get from home to their desk through car-bus-metro commute. I'm sure NYC is the same. How can Tampa even be in the top 20 cities is beyond me.
