I have a couple pics here of a snake. I couldn't identify it so I didn't catch it. Wondering if it's an escaped/released python of some sort. Sorry for the poor pics..bumpy boat and camera phone. Need to know because there are a number of pets around and I don't want them on the dinner list.

first picture..left third...half way up...
second picture...pretty much in the middle.

all you can see is the head and a few inches of body. just poking his head above the water.

enlarge them all the way..pretty easy to see...

I agree....looks like a python. Not a native FLorida snake.It's too bad people have released them and they are showing up all over. But you are right - depending on the size of the snake and the size of the pet it could be trouble. I love snakes but I also love ecology and this shouldn't be here.

I have to agree with the python vote...its head and markings look identical to the one my neighbor has.

This is in an old phosphate pit south of Plant City. About 10 feet from the house.
