do you stay in STL (as a countian, I use the term in the broader sense, think metro area)? If not, where do you move?

Me, I think I'd keep STL as home base and get a summer place in northern Michigan and a winter place in FLA, probably Naples.

I guess I'm parochial but I like it here, I like the four seasons, I like knowing where everything is (at least everything I need to know), and I like the Cardinals, Mizzou, Imos, toasted ravs, Ted Drewes, and midwestern people.

What say you?

I'll always love St. Louis, but if I won the power ball I'd go straight to London, my absolute favorite city in the world. I might pick up one of those little houses on Portland Place as a vacay cottage though

I totally agree with Mutgr- I would stay in STL but get a Summer Place on the Great Lakes (Michigan more than likely). DH and I plan on doing this in about 10 years anyhow (when we've saved up the $$$), regardless of Powerball or not

Summer Heat is AWFUL and not my style- anything to get away from it!

I'm with you, but my sister escaped (in her words) STL to live in North Carolina and she says it's great out there, not the heat in the summer or the cold in the winter. I don't buy it, I like it here like I said, but as you know it does get hot here and cold.

Haha I can't stand North Carolina. I've been here 4 years too long! It gets INSANELY hot here in the Summer- far more so than St. Louis (the humidity factor is worse, so even if the temperature is lower the heat index is higher)- although I've heard that it's cooler in the Western Half of the State.

With that said though, the Western side of the state gets vicious Winters. Does she live in the Piedmont / Middle of the State perhaps?

Either way... even if I take weather out of the equation... North Carolina is NOT for me. It's far too boring and culture here isn't the kind I enjoy.

My heart and soul are in St. Louis, counting down the months til I'm moving back! (so close now- only 3 more months in the Carolinas!)

If we won a big time amount (not just one of those smaller jackpots) I really think we wouldn't keep a home base for a while -- we'd probably just travel for a few years straight. But eventually I'd want a home base and I feel confident it would be the Midwest, if not St. Louis then likely Chicago. When you can fly all the time without concern for budget, where you live becomes loads less important in my opinion.

That is a good question. First, I'd have to start playing the powerball, which is something I never do. But then I would probably have several homes across the country, including one in STL. Probably a high rise condo in the CWE or downtown. Maybe even a place down at Lake of the Ozarks.

id have to imagine id still call stl home. with enough financial freedom i might have numerous "homes"but i think i could be very happy in the stl area. find enough land to build a decent home, and have room to stretch my legs. maybe enough room to put a small grass runway on the land as well...yep, i could hapilly do that in stl.

I'd snag the penthouse of the Park Plaza as my main residence! I really do prefer multi-family buildings-- I like being in a building with other people. If I [i[really[/i] hit the jackpot, I'd also get a little apartment in Brooklyn Heights. Don't think I'd buy a place in the country because I really am a city guy, but I'd like to spend quality time in a quiet East Coast hamlet, and Europe would probably be a yearly destination as well.
