...wear sunglasses (special type that's wrapped around and not lose) when playing tennis. Staying in the sun is very damaging to the eyes. This is especially true for the ones with light color eyes. It's like being in the sun all the time when you're light skinned and with no sunscreen.
good question - macular degeneration is a risk, right? I try to wear glasses, but have a difficulty focusing on the ball.....I do wear them golfing though. I'm in high risk FLA.
I like how the pic of Murray is shirtless in the ocean.
LOL.
I agree...I have to wear regular rx glasses (and they have UV protection), but any pair of rx sunglasses I have ever owned has always been weird about depth perception and maybe they're worried about the color of the ball vs the court.
Funny. Never noticed it before, but if there's an unwritten rule about maintaining a certain "look", that's rather uppity. If there is a written rule, then it's still rather uppity, unless there's some kind of safety issue!
Those who go on about some ATP rule against sunglasses might take the clue from the fact that a few players do wear sunglasses.
Simply put, most players find that the negatives of wearing sunglasses outweigh the benefits. Negatives include the fact that the impair peripheral vision to an extent, as well as a reduced ability to read the spin of the ball.

Total bs..a few hours in the sun is not got going to do anything. You really think if they were going to do eye damage they would allow it? OVERBLOWN
Well, we're talking about an "uppity" look and why tennis players don't wear sun glasses during play, right? I disagree with that comment. The Wawrinka comment from me was about his attire - not very uppity in my opinion.
and I wouldn't think Monfil's clothing style is "uppity".....
