Honestly, most folks are sort of apolitical around town. There's no obvious/huge activist community on either side of the political fence. Sure, there are vocal folks everywhere, but Savannah's always been a sort of live-and-let-live kind of town. As long as you don't wear your politics on your sleeve, you'll blend right in no matter what. I've lived lots of places, and I see fewer yard signs for candidates here than anywhere.

Check out the Isle of Hope area-they have a pool you can join. Burnside is nice too. Pooler is good for those check boxes on your side. It wasn’t our cup of tea when looking 5 years ago. We’ve been here 4 years now. We have friends we grew up with in Bluffton and there are nice places over that way too. Plenty of private schools here if looking for other than public schools. Memorial, Calvary, Savannah Christian and Savannah Country Day are some of them. I work for one of those and love it there. Richmond Hill has some nice places, but it’s going to be a ride up to Gulfstream even with the new exit. Waterways is a very nice place as is Waterford Landing. There is the Landings on Skidaway Island in Savannah. It also will depend on what you want to spend for a home.

When you look closer at the unincorporated areas of Chatham County & the other municipalities like Pooler, you'll see they're overwhelmingly red. Just look at the party affiliation of the County Commissioners who represent those areas...the vast majority are Republican.

I own a home in Savannah and spend lots of time there (less now during COVID)

Pooler seems fairly conservative, perhaps center right, and won't have many trees in about a year based on current trajectory. It is mostly stripmall/subdivision suburbs. They did add the sidewalk on one side of Pooler Pkwy which was good but it is in general not walkable, and not too many large parks or trails, like in Savannah. Poster above had a good suggestion, the islands areas and Isle of Hope are close to town, and about 30 min from the Gulfstream area. Ardsley Park is in town and 20 min away. they are more liberal and walkable. So the tradeoff is commute time, add 10 to 15 min. Or Port Wentworth is close and affordable.

Default Breaking down the Savannah political divide

Breaking down the political lines in Chatham County, a place which as other posters have pointed out voted for the Democrats over Republicans by about 10 points in the 2020 elections.

Big divide in how the vote breaks out, however, with party affiliation very bifurcated based on race and income.

If you live in predominately poor, Black inner city areas, 90% of the people are Democrats. Republicans make up about 80% of the middle class suburban white neighborhoods.

See Savannah racial and income demographics below.

Hispanic) (49%), White (Non-Hispanic) (40%), White (Hispanic) (6%), Asian (Non-Hispanic) (3%), and Two+ (Non-Hispanic) (2%).

Median per capita income in Savannah is about $32,000 with about a quarter of it's residents living under the poverty line.

OP never came back, so it doesn’t matter.

Default Re: Chatham County being more liberal than conservative

"You'll be just fine" says the OP if you're a liberal in Chatham County based on 60-40, 2020 election results in favor of the Democrats. If you assume that Blacks in the county voted similarly to the rest of the country (about 90% for Democrats), that means Republicans carried the White vote in Chatham County in 2020 state-wide and national elections about 70-30........assuming the OP will not be living in a predominately Black section of Savannah, they will likely live among mostly conservative neighbors albeit not overwhelmingly so.
