Hi, everyone.

My husband I could not afford those holiday-special-expensive air tickets so have decided to take a road trip. Since it is our first time ever to be on this type of trip, we do not know if there is any better way to take than the other, or any better place to stop by or any beautiful vista point on the way..etc

According to our GPS it will take about 25 hours from San Jose to Waco, TX nonstop. We are planning to start drive around 3 pm and hope to get there by next day (Chrstimas eve!) around 11pm. Do you think it is possible?

If anyone could give me even a small piece of advise, I would really appreciate it! Thanks in advance for your time

oh, also, (little early but)Merry Christmas!

Have you google mapped it and checked distance and time?
What's your route?

FYI, the primary route is going to use I-5 and I-10, and the CHP has been escorting vehicles over the Grapevine Pass just south of Bakersfield. The forecast looks good for the rest of the week though. If you work as a team and sleep while the other is driving, it would be arduous but it could be done.

Considering that I-10 has extremely huge population centers that you have to pass through (San Antonio, El Paso, Tucson, Phoenix, and Los Angeles), you may be stuck in traffic longer than you anticipate.

If possible, I would make the trek up to I-40 (meets up with I-27 at Amarillo, TX) and go westward that way until you reach Barstow, CA; at that point take I-15 S to CA 58 west (its a relatively newly built rural highway connecting Barstow and Bakersfield) to I-5. It may be a bit longer by an hour (the distance differential is 26 miles), but you will thank me because you'll avoid the urban traffic that most cities will be seeing during the holidays.

I drove from Dallas,TX to San Jose. I recommend you take I-40.
