Hello all
I took a job in Mountain View and have been looking around for a 1 BD apartment. I am not sure what the best place is for a single guy looking for a nice place, close to shopping and night life...
I also like trails and parks.
I was recommended the area north of San Jose between highways 237 - 101 - 880...
Is this the place to be?
Thanks for the tips...

if your job is in mountain view, i would stick as close to that as possible. traffic can be horrendous. shopping and nightlife is pretty much everywhere, as are parks. palo alto residents have exclusive access to foothills park. lots of trails up there.

Depending on your budget. The north San Jose area you mentioned is the cheapest among the three options, while Mountain View is the most expensive. The rivermark area of Santa Clara is in between.

Yeah, but most would argue that Mountain View is a lot nicer. You really do get what you pay for.

But one can always live in Sunnyvale for instance and drive to MtView to go to a restaurant or shopping...Can't I?
Or is it more the apartments are nicer?
thanks

there are restaurants and shopping in all the towns. sunnyvale is good too. all the towns mush together so there isn't a huge difference between the areas.

I read bad reviews about security and frequent car and apartment break ins
This would be a nightmare scenario for me and I am not sure if you know an area that is safer than the other...
I read bad reviews about the North San Jose area...

Can I live in North San Jose...Say the North Park Apartments and take the green Light Rail to Mountain View instead of driving?
Is it a better option? Is it a safe Option?
Thanks

I think those apartments you reference are safe. These are just a ton of apartments plopped in the middle of a business area. However, there really is not much to do there and I think they're still pretty expensive. I'd recommend spending a bit more money and living in Mtn. View...you'll be much happier.
