Caltrain is cutting back service and raising fares while the employees get fatter paychecks. Is this any way to run a railroad?

Caltrain is doing what the govt on all levels is doing. The utility companies do the same thing. Hopefully all these greedy pukes get their just deserts.

these salary increases have got to stop. I wonder if people realize how many workers that are still employed haven't seen raises in 2 or 3 years, how many seniors did not get a raise in SS this year nor will they next year, but medi-care keeps going up. I could go on and on. They are going to find themselves in the same boat as the postal service if they don't watch out.

so you think we should become communistic, is that what you are saying? Capitalism is how our country has survived this long or do you think the government should be in charge of everything including your income or lack of same?

LOL at the knee jerk right wing reaction. Who said anything about communism? I'm just telling you the general population always gets hit the hardest in capitalism. You act like the U.S. has a long history. LOL @ this is how we have survived this long? This long? Are you kidding me?

P.S. Caltrain is paid by governments, Those commies. Maybe if you didn't live in Arkansas you'd know that.

and maybe if you had lived all over the country including a 40 plus years in Ca you would know a little more. In one breath you mention capitalism and another government paid. Again, I ask, what kind of country would you like us to be? Obviously not a capitalistic one....maybe socialistic?

For being as old as you claim to be you should understand how this country is run. LOL you seem very confused and clueless, socialism is apart of our society whether you like it or not. It's a fact and it's here. No system is perfect and I didn't give my opinion on one or the other, you just reacted like a typical reactionary with your right wing pre programed spiel.

Actually, it has nothing to do with capitalism at all. CalTrain wouldn't even exist if we were purely capitalistic. It has everything to to with the fact they're a government monopoly. A CalTrain rider quoted at the end of the article put it well:

"I don't think Caltrain is operating as a business; they're operating like a government monopoly," said Daniel Connolly, who commutes on Caltrain from San Francisco to Palo Alto. "And given that mind-set, I don't think it's too surprising that they're not doing well."
