Looking for a community with resort style amenities (nice pool, fitness center etc). We like La Quinta, but also like Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells. We would rent before buying so preferably a community that allows rentals. Some clubs/activities would be nice too. Thanks!

Good morning!

How about also looking into either Palm Springs, Cathedral City, or maybe even Indio?

They are more reasonably-priced cities, and more bang for your buck (especially in CC and Indio). But, I'm pretty sure that you probably wouldn't want to look into any of them, though, huh?

Actually, I think I might have just just found the perfect area for you: Sun City Palm Desert.

It is an unincorporated area (that is a gated community) that is located just north of the Interstate 10 (roughly 11 miles east of Palm Springs), and is bordered by Palm Desert on the west and Indio to the east. Hence, it is not within the city limits of Palm Desert at all, although it does share the same ZIP code of 92211 as Palm Desert and Indian Wells.

Sun City Palm Desert probably has most of what you are looking for, and it has three recreation centers, three restaurants, a karaoke coffee bar, two gyms, an indoor Olympic-sized swimming pool, and over 80 clubs. It also has a 600+ seat ballroom/theater boasting a professional audio/video capability, which hosts plays and concerts.

And, yes, Sun City Palm Desert does, in fact, allow rentals.

Do you have more questions, OP?

I recommend the Indian Springs Country Club on the north La Quinta/Indio borderline in Indio. Located off of Jefferson and Miles. My husband and I rented a house there for 3 years and we really enjoyed our time there. Fitness center was ok but they had a couple of great pools and we had beautiful mountain/golf course views from our home. We live in San Diego now but we really miss that home in Indio...if we were to ever move back, that's the country club I'd search out again.

Default 55 plus Sun City

It's a good choice if they are 55 plus.
