coming in to SA this weekend to visit my sister--
did not even think about it being Fiesta weekend when we planned this--
definitely don't want to go to Riverwalk...

any suggestions for nice dining spot in north part of city--around 1604/281 area...

nothing really fancy but not chain...

La Hacienda de Los Barrios at Redland just outside 1604. You won't find a more enjoyable dinning expereince in the neighborhood. Hope for good weather and sit on the porch.

we are stopping in Luling on our way down from DFW to go by City Market--don't need any County Line stuff--
thanks--not familiar with any of those--will Google them up

el Chaparral in Helotes. Not quite in the 281 area, but not that far either...

There's three locations on their website; one of them is 281/1604.

I have to 2nd this recommendation. The outside patio, food, drinks, and ambiance are hard to beat!!!

Los Barrios gets some not so good recs as well as Arden's Kitchen--
would hate to get a bad experience for special occasion--taking my sister out for her birthday...
