Our dog has been sprayed 4 times now in the past month by what I believe is a family of skunks living under our house (we live in a trailer of sorts).
Is there anything I can do to get rid of them that won't harm the dog as well?
My SO wants to try and trap them, but I don't see what good that will do!

I'd highly recommend against the 12-gauge. An injured-but-not-dead skunk is not something you want underneath your house. Trapping and removing the animals is probably the best bet - but I'd hire someone else to do it. If you're not in city limits where animal control can help, find an animal removal service. You don't want your husband smelling like your dogs...

Thanks.
I live in Leon Valley and since they found a rabid animal last month (a skunk, if I remember correctly) they're telling everyone not to trap animals on their own.
I'm just going to call them tomorrow morning and see if there's anything they can do about them.

I know it may sound crazy, but skunks and other animals are deterred by human urine. We had the same problem, but I collected some and poured it along the property line and they stopped for about a year.

Haha, they think WE stink? Great suggestion, if it works--I know an 11 year old that would love to pee the property line, just cuz he can.

Yep!! I remember those days loooooong ago. Oh! skunks . If they spray you drink V-8 and take a bath in tomato juice.

There is a skunk bath sold at Petsmart that works well. You put it on the dog and leave them outside to dry w/o rinse. It worked better than everything tomato related. Expensive though.

When I lived on the farm out towards Boerne my dog got sprayed. I tried the tomato bath. I think it helped but kerosene and a match would have worked better. Just kidding !! I would never do such a thing. However, If you sheered it like a sheep it would help.

Wildlife Rescue told me to use ammonia soaked rags to combat the skunks under our shed. They said to toss the rags under the shed and the skunks should move out. I did as they said and the skunks appeared to have vacated the premises.

I had previously called animal control and they said the only thing they could do was let me rent a live trap! Can you believe it!
