Hi All,
My family is moving to El Dorado county this summer and I'm looking for a new Montessori charter for my 8 year old son. Rising Sun (El Dorado Hills) and CA Montessori Project (Shingle Springs) seem to be the best two options. There is also Valley View, but from what I've read it seems to be more Montessori-inspired. I've scoured the web and read the test scores, but I'm hoping to gain some inside on the schools from parents. Any and all info is welcome. Thanks in advance!

My kids are enrolled in CA Montessori Project (CMP) although not that campus. All the teachers have been really great. I'm not that die hard about the Montessori curriculum like some are but it seems to work for now for my kids. They are learning and have good teachers and are making nice friends. The criticisms I have heard are the lack of academic rigor as the kids get older so we will have to see how it goes. One thing that I have been impressed with (compared with Sac Unified which we have also been involved with) is the navigation through the pandemic. CMP was much more proactive about creating a plan to return that made sense and kids are now back in classes. It's definitely a tighter ship with better leadership (also much fewer students and schools and bureaucracy to manage). We wished more effort to get kids back in class would have happened in the fall but are glad that they at least put everything in place so that it can happen now.
