"If you're in the market to buy a home in the Rochester area, the next few weeks might be a perfect time, according to a new report from Realtor.com.

After a year marked by low inventory and high prices, most markets across the country will have more homes for sale, lower prices, and less buyer competition in September and October compared with the average week of the year, Realtor.com data shows.

“You're not necessarily going to get the lowest price, but you'll get a lower-than-peak price and you're not going to see as much competition from other buyers,” said Danielle Hale, chief economist for Relator.com.

The Rochester market remains incredibly competitive, but local experts say there may be some relief coming over the next few months."

The prime time to SELL a house is in the spring. Parents want to make their move over the summer, so their kids are ready for school in their new district.

^Good point and that may be why it is a good time to buy, as some people are likely trying to move on from their homes. This may be a good time for young couples/families with very young children, among some others.
