I haven't read it, so I don't know if the proposal is for all elected offices.

You seem really wrapped up in this for some reason. Laws are proposed all the time that lawmakers know will never go anywhere. That's actually the norm. No big deal.

Well, the old one's that have been paying taxes thru their ears for years and getting nothing in return other then being told to "pay their fair share" have every right to be cranky and bitter about it. The old, cranky one's that have been mooching off the system while sitting on their porch smoking newports and gossiping about everyone in town have nothing to be cranky about. They bring nothing to society.

LOL. I got swamp land to sell you in the the south pole if you think they ever would. Do as I say, not as I do should be the RI state slogan.

Yes, reporting tax history is voluntary and has been an honored practice by gentlemen for many years. So is decency. We can federally demand the reporting of tax history. I hope we do. Clinton's lack of decency cost him and others much. In Rhode Island, Trump's lack of decency appears to have gained him much.

My understanding is that it was voluntary. Seems like making it a requirement (preferably at the federal level) was a big oversight.

Even 2-term presidency was voluntary unto FDR decided to go for 4 terms. Legislation to prevent that took another 6-7 years to get enacted.

Want to require tax returns be made mandatory? Fine with me as i'd like to see them too, but push it off to 2024 or 2028. Trying to get it done for 2020 seems a bit targeted.
