What to reasonably expect from buyer's agent? (Realtor, invest, properties)

I am looking for a condo but covering a large area. My agent is very nice but many properties are in areas outside of where she usually works and so she doesn't know them very well and can't give me an idea of the neighborhood/communities or know about certain properties that might appeal to me. Is it unreasonable to expect that an agent would know more of this type of thing these days or is this pretty much the way it is?
I had hoped to have someone who could point me to areas that seemed more of a match for what I'm looking for. But so far we have been to so many areas that aren't what I want and I don't think she's always been to them before (or not for quite a while) and doesn't really know them too well. Does this mean I need more than 1 agent for different areas? I don't think that is usually acceptable...anyone have any opinions or experiences to share when looking in multiple areas?
What kind of information are you looking for that you're not getting? What do you mean by multiple areas? What kind of range are we talking about? What part of Washington are you in?

I'm looking in areas surrounding Seattle - could go up to Everett area, east side and even south to Tacoma area.
Guess I just hoped to get someone who really knew the areas well including condo buildings, what might be a good one etc. I know there are so many that it would be difficult for any one realtor to know that for so many areas. Just not sure how best to approach it.
Over that wide an area, it would be hard to find one agent who would know all those areas down to specific buildings... but you could maybe find one agent who is willing to find out! It's going to take some driving by you, too, but if you can plan trips to specific areas, with an agent you like who will research what he/she can before you go, that might be the best bet.
Don't expect to cast a wide net over the whole Puget Sound and have a Realtor narrow down and pinpoint the perfect place for you...
But DO say "Let's plan a trip to the North, South, East, West, areas of Seattle and look, on specific days, and give time for agent to do a search, find, and help you choose some to look at... then if you haven't found anything, a trip to Everett, then a trip to Tacoma - or a trip to Kent, or Des Moines... In other words, choose specific areas to investigate with someone, who is hopefully learning all about you in this process too... until you find it.
That would be my idea. Find someone who specializes in condominium kinds of properties in town, who is willing to look with you and spend time, and try to stick with them. Not me, btw... unless you also want to consider a farm in the country. That's mostly what we do, with only a few rare exceptions, and I'm afraid we wouldn't be good at this project.

Thanks....that's good advice. Just not sure how much is ok to impose on someone as far as helping to explore an area. A farm in the country actually sounds nice! But not feasible for me.

You could always hire them and pay them for their time. I’m quite certain they wouldn’t argue with you over that, and would probably appreciate the gesture.
