I see by the maps that getting out of Wake Forest, basically you take Capital Blvd. I also hear about how horrible and gridlock that road is during commuting hours. Does anyone out there know of any plans in the work, to alieviate that problem??
There are ongoing discussions on turning US-1 north of I-540 into an 8-lane limited-access freeway, but there's currently no funding for it...

The biggest issue widening Capital Blvd. (US-1) is the narrow bridge over the Neuse River. That is what makes the project so expensive, not the road widening itself. Hopefully, when 540 opens next week, people will be able to take 401 south to 540 and alleviate some of that congestion coming from Burlington Mills Rd. The other project that should help is the widening of Falls of Neuse north of Raven Ridge Rd. The residents of Wakefield were promised that widening years ago, and instead they all funnel down that 2-lane road, or sit on Capital. That project is a priority, and should divert much of the Wakefield traffic that now comes down Capital.
Not to hijack this thread, but if anybody has any additional info on the widening of Falls of the Neuse Road please post what you know as this is something near and dear to my heart as I live off Dunn Rd and deal with hte Falls of the Neuse Congestion everyday.
