Some will say the best climate is found here in central NC...if you like HOT HUMID summers with temps 95+ and 99% humdity it is great.
From September to late October it is wonderful. November through mid-February is pretty good. March to last of May is also nice. June, JUly and August? SOme will say it is best to sit inside with a gallon of sweet iced tea and watch the grass grow..

If you are coming here from SoCal the humidity will probably be a big shock to you. People who move here from drier climates seem to have a very tough time with the summers. It's no more humid here than where I came from (usually less so) but it does get really hot, which doesn't bother me.

Yes, it is hot and humid in the summer but it really doesn't last that long. Also keep in mind that the humidity is much better for your skin. :-)

I think that the most interesting statistic is:

Days with temp > 90F

San Diego: 2
Pittsburgh: 8
Raleigh: 36
Dallas: 96
Phoenix: 167

How to explain Raleigh weather? It isn't typical. yes, you can read the stats online but how do you explain that Saturday was 60 degrees and sunny, Sunday was cold and rainy, Monday was snow, Tuesday was sunny, all snow was gone and temps were in the 50s, today is 60 and the next few days, we'll have 70s (yes, it is Feb.)!!!

There is a recent thread about weather which may be helpful to you, as well.

Vicki

Also, the humidity bothers me more in the winter than the summer. 15* in Colorado is jeans/sweatshirt weather. Here, your curled up by the fireplace. Freezing!

It has only ever snowed once in June in Buffalo since records have been kept, and that was only a trace on June 10, 1980.
