Sitting at my desk in Wake Forest and during the past 35 minutes have noticed 8 planes flying North to South in groups of 2 each. Just not an everyday happening....... I love to watch them fly by.... they are awesome!
Yes, watched 2 F-15s doing circles by US-1/98. Definitely not common and a little disconcerting for the day. Heard there was an airshow in Winston-Salem, but that doesn't totally account for seeing them in WF repeatedly.
We are in Lillington and starting Friday, we were counting 6or 8 cargo / troop transport planes coming into Bragg for what seemed every 45-60 minutes for like 2-3 hours. Saturday as well. We haven't been looking today.
Seems like I heard a military airplane a few weeks ago. I don't think I've EVER heard one in N. Raleigh. I know what they sound like, after working a job that required me to plan/attend air shows for almost eight years!
The weirdest thing I ever observed was down in Colerain, NC (Bertie Co.). A DEAFENING military airplaine roared by while I was visiting an elementary school. The trailers shook, the windows rattled. I was terrified. I asked about it, and the kids and teachers barely noticed. They said it happens ALL the time, but they aren't sure where the planes come from. They suspected someplace in VA. I thought it was odd that everybody there was just kind of like, "Doop-be-doo...loud, earth-shaking military airplane, no big deal..." LOL
I had a couple of miltary helicopters circling over my area for at least two hours nonstop yesterday (Saturday). I could see my tax payer dollars going round and round and round....
