My wife and I are moving to Portland in Dec. 2006. I have a new job in Wilsonville and we have been looking at homes on the net. West Linn is looking good but I wonder what the traffic is like for the commute from West Linn to Wilsonville along the 205 and 5. Can anyone share what the commute time is going west on the 205 and south on the 5 in the morning and opposite in the evening?

Thanks
Ken

Hi felken,

I can't really answer your question, I'm sorry to say. I commute on the opposite end of 205 every day. From what I hear on the traffic reports, it sounds like a moderately congested drive - not the worst but not the quickest drive, either. Sometimes things get backed up on the I-5/I-205 junction (which is the way'd be going from West Linn to Wilsonville), but you may be going in the opposite way of the majority of people, who are probably heading toward Portland and not Wilsonville. West Linn is a very nice area and Wilsonville is really growing, I'm sure it's got some nice residential areas, too. Sorry I can't give better info! Good luck.

It is backed up daily through that section, but there are backroads that can get you there and back quickly. You can look at live cams at www.tripcheck.com for those sections.

As for living in West Linn. Welcome to snobsville!!! If you are rich and like keeping up with the Jones', you will fit right in. Same goes for Lake Oswego.

You might even consider living in Wilsonville or Tualatin. There is a lot of new houses going in and it has tons of shopping and easy access to I-5.
