I will probably be moving to Beaverton in the next month or so, but I may not be moving my car with me. I will be working in the downtown Beaverton area near the Library.
It would be great to walk to work and be close to the MAX for trips into Portland, but I've heard mixed things about living in this area (as opposed to even a couple of miles out).
For example, I've read that Center Street isn't a very good area (I was looking at Willow Grove Apts?) or SW Allen, but I don't know if that's true.
Any slum-like places I should definitely avoid?

Can anyone recommend a one or two bedroom Apartment (in downtown Beaverton) for under $750-800/month? Ideally, I would prefer a pet-free place and a W/D in the unit, but that's probably being too picky at my prices.

Or is it worth taking the bus for a few months just to live in a "better" neighborhood?

Thanks!

I live right around the corner from there and have no issues at all other then car prowler last year. I also walk or bike to the MAX station most every day.

The only place I'd stay away from is at the end of Hall where it meets Cedar Hills. That area over there is the highest crime area in Beaverton.

Center Street isn't that huge of a deal, it's right on the route that the cops take to City Hall so it's pretty well patrolled in my opinion.

Car prowls are common everywhere, but since the OP won't have a car that won't be an issue.
