Good question.

About 15 years ago, I called them and asked what their position was on Mad Cow Disease, and they told me they were for it.

I asked why, and they said that if people die eating cows then they won't be able to eat cows anymore.

We went through this here 10 yrs ago. There are just as many peer review scientist papers saying that farm salmon are no hazard if farmed well. Some farms need work and some do not. You can't group them all together. It's like any other industry. But you show folks a 3-4 minute movie and scare the crap out of them enough then you have your aganda folowed.

Personally, I think salmon, farm or indigenous, are ony good for catching a decent fish that's good to eat.

The difference between farmed "Atlantic" Salmon and Wild Pacific Salmon is like the difference between the flavor of Rosie O'Donell or Jessica Alba.

Which would you prefer?

PETA is too busy worrying about trying to save the poor bulldog who is the mascot for the U of Georia.

Who cares?

I do know their stance on wild salmon. They put out something for schoolchildren calling them "sea kittens" or whatever....

I'm in the wild salmon industry in the great state of Alaska. Salmon farms have been banned there since 1990. Our wild runs in SE are sustainable and healthy ones. The fish farms down in BC do pose somewhat of a threat...

not on the marketplace, though. In the oceans...farmed fish have been known to escape (who could blame them) and infest the wild runs with diseases.
