And what has Trump done about the 'program"?

Trump actually seems to like and encourage hacking and leaking so it's no wonder his WH leaks like a freaking sieve.

Each case must be based on its own merits.

If there are acts of misfeasance and malfeasance being perpetuated in positions of power than those acts should be leaked to the press, especially, if those acts shed light on an abuse of constitutional authority or corruption on the highest levels.

The conversations of Trump with the leaders of Mexico and Australia should not have been leaked and in normal times probably would not have. What this leaks shows are two facts:

1. Dysfunction of the White House extends to the highest level, and,
2. The leaker is concerned enough about Trump's behavior to risk a leak of this material.

The issue of whether a leaker is a hero or villain does not strike me as the correct question. It is more a question of right and wrong though I do admit that leakers may do so at their peril and future career.

However, there are different kinds of leaks. Leaks that are made to appear as leaks to support the president's agenda, leaks to undermine another staffer, leaks in support of a particular proposition, etc.
The purpose of the leak as well as the motivation often needs to be determined.

A distinction must be made for National Security leaks which should rarely, if ever, be leaked unless approved by the proper chain of command.

A constitutional republic, like ourselves, could never stop leaks from position of power nor should we.
Leakers do provide an insight to the inner workings of the halls of power that the public would not normally be privy to.

The amount of leaks in this particular WH says more about the man at the top than anything else. He neither inspires fear nor confidence nor loyalty.

That is the service this leaker is providing us.

Deep Throat was a leaker and he changed the course of American history. If you aren't doing anything wrong I'm not sure why you should be so worried about leakers. And Trump is clearly worried about leakers. Obsessed really.

Well, actions have consequences. It is the willingness to risk all, including reputation, that shows the importance of what one has to say. If what they have to say is not worth risking personal loss--than maybe they should keep their mouth shut..and soldier on.

I find most of the leakers in the 'tattle tale' category.

If you wish to be a whistle blower...than BLOW the whistle--and own it.

Depends, if you're a lefty (and some righties) you think anyone who offers up info that implicates trump, is hero. Whereas if you had squealed on the Obama govt you should be locked up, banished and put on the run.

If it's our president leaking classified information to our geopolitical adversaries in a super private meeting in the oval office, then it's okay. If it's a patriot whistle blower leaking something seedy about the president, then it's not okay. Right. Got it.

When they are leaking details of calls between two world leaders, just to make our President look bad, they are villains.

So far I haven't seen a single leak that would make me consider applying a 'hero' label.

These leaking Americans are putting their lives on the line and are willing to report what they know so that it is not hidden or covered up. None of them are doing it for personal gain or glory, they mostly remain anonymous. If they did not do what they are doing, we might never know about some of the seedier aspects of how this administration is being run.

Some may see them as criminals, but perhaps they are simply patriots and are concerned enough that they must speak out so that others can make decisions based on that information.
it depends on what they are leaking and why. if there is wrongdoing on the government, then by all means let it out. but if one is leaking stuff just to bring down a president, then it needs to stop, and the leakers need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
